The private members' club for single people that hosts parties and unique social events throughout the year
Ochun is a social club that specialises in hosting sophisticated & fun events for single Londoners.
We offer cultural, social adventures in and around London. These are attended by members, that have been carefully selected by us and which we believe are well suited together. All events are organised with the utmost concern for quality, style and convenience.
Our aim is for our members to have a new experience, learn something, expand their address book and have a great time doing it.
We will be hosting several different events per month.
Ochun came into being when we realised there was a need for an innovative approach to bringing singles together. It is obvious that the model employed by existing high-end London introduction and dating agencies, and their internet equivalents is far from ideal. The current agency 'formula of dating’, where the individual is chosen and matched either by a computer algorithm or by self-appointed ‘matchmakers', may work for some, however we believe that you can’t quantify chemistry.
Ochun recreates the situation we experienced in our 20's, when it was easy to meet other single people, by gathering groups of like minded, free and charming individuals in the right environment. The toe-curling and mostly uncomfortable experience of dating and matchmaking is thus entirely by passed.
There is no pressure and no obligation to do anything but enjoy the evening.
I wish a service like Ochun had existed when I was single past my thirties. It would have undoubtedly saved me having to go through numerous uninspiring and time-wasting meetings and dates. When I divorced in my early thirties, most of my friends were not only married but also enjoying parenthood. Meeting a new partner was suddenly not the spontaneous and natural occurrence it used to be in my twenties.
An expensive dating agency, charging an astronomical sum, seemed like a small price to pay for what could be the most important investment of my life. But it was a soul destroying, futile exercise; it quickly became obvious that it’s impossible to rationalise chemistry between two people, especially when done by an unfamiliar individual from an impersonal organisation.
Thus emerged the concept of a singles club whose members I would have had things in common with, and whose friends I would most likely get on with, a club that would bypass the dangers and randomness inherent in Internet dating and the self-esteem bashing, toe-curling one-on-one dates as advocated by matchmaking agencies.
I wanted to make it attractive to be single through belonging to a group similar to that of my friends, where the focus on meeting someone was eclipsed by my participating in an activity of my own choice. I needed to find a place that could offer me the opportunity to find out for myself who I was attracted to and had chemistry with before deciding to take things further.
Ochun took shape when I convinced my business partner Richard that the time was ripe to start this club and make being single the attractive and exciting prospect it should be.
At Ochun, we specialise in hosting unique experiences and offer access to some of the most sought-after events in and around London, that you can register to and pay for through our Ochun APP.
We are always available to help, advise and recommend events that we believe may suit you.
Privacy: Ochun is a private members' club, as such we operate in a strictly confidential and discreet manner. All information given to us is private. We will not disclose it to any other member, or pass it to a third party without your consent.
All our members receive a personalised online account. Through your personalised account, you can easily register your interest for an event, monitor your account balance, manage your preferences, view your history and pay for your events in advance.
Before your chosen event, we will send you all the details you need, including - suggested dress code, the location, parking facilities, timings and any other relevant information and advice. Most events take place in London but on occasion, when you need to travel further, Ochun will organise private transport to and from the venue.
Upon arriving at the event, you will be met by an Ochun host who will introduce you to the other members, lead the event, interact with guests, steer the conversation when needed and work to ensure all your needs are met.
We realise that it can be daunting to attend an event on your own, which is why we encourage you to bring a single friend along to share in the experience.
This is only possible at the monthly drinks event. Your guest is permitted to accompany you to one event, although we ask that they provide us with their name and a recent photo.
The events and experiences that Ochun offers are of the highest standard and are available upon joining.
Our diverse membership base ranges from entrepreneurs to socialites and city professionals to artists. However, we ensure that our members all have two things in common: they are interesting, charming and single.
At Ochun, we meet each and every one of our applicants before they are offered a membership, allowing us to ensure that they have similar values and interests.
The criteria for getting into the club is that its founder, Christina, would enjoy sitting next to you at a dinner party.
To help us understand what your expectations of Ochun are, and whether we are the right club for you, we request that you complete a membership application. We will contact you shortly after receiving your completed form.
Once your application has been successful we will ask you for a yearly fee, currently set at £1,500.
After this you will simply pay for the events you wish to attend and the services you may require.
Prices start from approximately £50 for drinks and can range up to £200 for more exclusive events. All events are payable when you receive your booking confirmation. Event fees are charged to your Ochun online account. This account must be credited with a minimum of £500 upon joining (this is not included in the £1,500 registration fee). When the balance falls below £25, we will use your preferred method of payment to credit the account with £500.
Should you choose to terminate your membership with Ochun, we will refund your remaining online balance.
Ochun accepts direct bank transfers, personal cheques and cash.
For members: We trust the judgement of our members and know that you share many of our values and beliefs. Therefore, we will fast-track applications from people you recommend. Please call or email us to get started.
For non-members: If you know someone who you think would benefit from Ochun membership, please contact us for further information.
London is home to some of the world’s greatest restaurants, exhibitions and shows but we are all occasionally guilty of unintentionally bypassing the best that the city has to offer and reverting to what is convenient and familiar. Ochun promises to relieve the stress associated with making reservations or securing tickets and to deliver a carefully selected, different, and hassle-free experience.
